Snoozing only seems simple. There are actually several steps to a successful nap that I don't think people appreciate. I shall try to break it down for you now.

| Step one - eyes LOOK almost closed, but I'm actually watching for any rogue Maine Coons that might interrupt what could potentially be a wonderful snooze |

| Step two - eyes close a little more, but I'm still aware of any impending pounces |

| Step three - feeling secure. Lay my head down |
 |
| Step four - all is quite on the Rumbley front. I feel secure enough to lay my tired head all the way down |

| Step five - we have snooze!! The humans are amused at the little sighing noises I make, if they only knew I was dreaming of overthrowing them all, do you think they'd still be amused? |

Aw poor kitty... welcome to our life! Jadzia pounces both of us for no reason every now and then... And then the bean likes to pick us up while we're snoozing, usually me!

You have explained the stages of snoozing purrfectly. We will have to check we are doing it right.
I don't see a problem with you overthrowing them. As long as you go earn the pay check to keep the house and provide food. Do you have a problem with that? Haha.
Snoozing is much more simple at my house, but I don't have any rumbly Maine Coons to worry about!

I'm very glad you posted this! Humans don't understand the complicated procedure of taking a proper nap! Dogs don't either I suspect! I find that my tail falls asleep in its own good time, but that's okay; if it wants to keep swatting away while I drift off, that's alright :) Does yours do that too?
WE have to go through those same stages at our house too because you never know when someone else could decide to attack!
