A mancat in need...

The handsome Nikita is having his one year blog-o-versery on Friday!

He needs only 17 more comments from visitors to his blog by midnight Friday to reach 1,200 comments for the year... if you have a moment could you stop over and say hello to him? (and I may have mistakenly thought he was a bootiful lady cat earlier today. I blame it on the warm weather we've got out here making me silly)

On the topic of my sunscreen yesterday... my coloring is called 'high white', which means that most of my face and ruff are white, and the tips of my ears are very white. Because I'm so fair if I spend time in the sun I'm at risk for getting all kinds of yucky things like cancer.

Rumblemum gets me a special sunscreen from the vet called Aniwell, it rubs in so that I can't wash it off. I don't like it much and I can TOTALLY smell it even tho the humans think it's odorless. I guess it's a small price to pay to stalk the birdies...

Rumble-adventure!

I really love my Kritter Kondo. I get to go and look at the birdies, lie in sun-puddles and sniff the new smells!

My sunpuddle!!

The only downside? Rumblemum won't let me out without my special sun-screen. She says my tiny pink nose and little white ears are a sunburn waiting to happen.

It's worth it (I guess) *grumblepurr*

I love the smell of fresh birdies in the morning!

Rumblemum better not be planning on going anywhere for the next week and a half...

My new job!! - Rumbles

My friends, I have finally found my perfect career... I'm an interior decorator!!

The other day I rearranged a knick-knack for Rumblemum, and in the process the legs maybe fell off (or 'broke' as the Rumblemum put it)

She managed to find one leg and glue it back on, but I'm afraid the second one is somewhere she can't find it...

I think she needs to understand what I did is Feng shui. The elf was throwing off the balance of the tuna energy in the house. I am now expecting many tunas for xmas.

I see nothing wrong. Who says elves need two legs?
Last night I may or may not have knocked over a big decorative fruit bowl. At 5am.

I think the house is better now for having less clutter. Rumblemum just doesn't understand us artists *sniff*

How am I - Rumbles

I've had quite a few of you asking how I'm doing, I thought I'd give an update.

I've really been missing Inigo. I don't know where he went, just that he went out the door and I haven't seen him since. I've started running into the hall outside our apartment (which I never did before) to look for him.

I miss having him home during the day, I want to play and there isn't anyone to play with. When Rumblemum comes home I follow her around and I don't take my eyes off of her!!

Rumblemum worries that I'm getting really anxious and maybe a bit unhappy. She's glad she'll be home with me soon for the holidays.

I'm very lucky to have all my friends here to talk to tho. *rumblecuddle*

You gotta see this boy!

I've made a fantastic new friend. His real name is Raspittin, but humans being what they are they've given him a nickname - Cujo cat.

He's such an entertaining fella, and he's got a brilliant blog.

Who could resist this handsome face?

Psst... ladies - Rumblepurr

If you're SUPER good this year, Santa may bring you a bag fulla ME!

Ok, so maybe you don't have to be SUPER good... you could just be good... or kinda good... or maybe just a bootiful lady-cat...

Ahhh, a wonderful weekend to be me! - Rumblepurr

I had visits from SO many BOOOOOOTIFUL ladies this weekend!! Even if some of them did suggest I was a bit silly (RUMBLEMUM, I'm looking at YOU!!!)

Firstly I met Mishamummy and flat Misha... I wasn't so sure about flat Misha, I had to give his ear a bit of a nom to make sure he wasn't going to lure Rumblemum away from me... when I realized he was flat we became best pals!

Me and flat Misha - both of us actual size (ok, I slouched
a bit...)
A bit later I met the very kind Marjorie, who had made us a really special necklace with Inigo's picture on it. Rumblemum was so touched (so was I)

And then I met my fellow man-cat model-turned-pilot Darwinmummy!

Now, you know Darwin has a BOOTIFUL sister named Meg... I sent her over a nip bouquet and I'm sure hoping she liked it!

It's been a really good weekend, and now I'm all about snoozing with Rumblemum. Hmm, I reckon I need a car so I can vroom over to visit Miss Meg at some point. Maybe for xmas... heh heh heh

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

What do you get...

If you combine a BOOTIFUL lady-cat with a cupcake hat:

Watch that frosting buddy!

And a handsome man-cat with a cheese hat?

Heyyyy...this cheese has
holes in it!
CHEESECAKE!!!

Heh heh heh...

The BOOTIFUL ladycat is my lovely new friend Bang!. She's just started blogging, and she's very sweet (literally if she got frosting on her head!)

The weather conspires against me - Rumblepurr

I've been planning to post a product review on here for quite a while, but got side-tracked. So I'm excited to do it today finally! Unfortunatly the weather is yucky today, so I can't provide photos of me. That'll have to wait for another day...

The product I'm reviewing is the Kritter Kondo, sent by my kind friends at the Kritter Kommunity.

Rumblemum has always been afraid to let me out on the deck because she knows I like to explore, and it's just too easy for me to get hurt. So imagine how delighted we all were to get the Kondo!! It's super easy to put together (even the Rumblemum could do it!) all you need to do is insert some metal latches (supplied) into the holes on the Kondo and hey presto! The enclosure is built and ready to go!

I was so excited the first time I went in, it was thrilling to finally be outside where the nommy birds are, and Rumblemum was so happy to see me enjoying myself. The mesh around the frame of the Kondo is nice and soft, so there was no chance of hurting myself on it.

The best thing I can say about the Kondo is how much Inigo loved it in his last few weeks. He really perked up whenever Rumblemum let him out in it, and for that I'll give this product a 10/10. If you're looking for the ultimate gift for indoor kitties, this is totally what you want to get them for xmas.

I see they've got a contest on at the moment for a PINK one!! So, bootiful girl cats, hurry on over, your palace (may) await!

I'll get Rumblemum to post photos of me in it when the weather's nicer.

An open letter to Rumblemum

Dear Rumblemum,

I've been letting you get away with LOTS of stuff lately. You've taken away some of my noms (something about my weight... HARUMPH) you come home late, you don't give me enough scritchies in the night. Furthermore, you don't keep my blog up-to-date or let me visit my friends as much as I'd like.

Now I know you've got some lame excuses, like "you've been really busy with work" and "you've been really sad cause you miss Inigo so much"... but I'm here to tell you it's time to get the lead out lady!!

Now I've been working SUPER hard to keep you happy. That time I was washing and tipped over? Totally for your benefit. And when I slid off the end of the sofa and landed with a small thud? Just to get you to smile.

You've got to keep up your end of the bargain Rumblemum. This means on-demand cuddles, lots of tunas and more time with my bootiful friends.

That will be all.

Sincerely,
Rumblepurr

Rumblebirthday - let the smoochies begin! - Rumbles

Once upon a time there was a tiny boy-cat

ZzzzzZzZzzzz

Hmm, that mouse isn't too far away if I wanted to nom..

Who grew up to be a much bigger (and even more handsome) MANcat...

Hey dad, this area has gotten smaller

Meh, it's still a good nap place

And as it was his very special day, he decided he needed lots of smoochies and cuddles!

Ladies, I'm ready for smoochies!!!
*happy sigh* I love my birthday.

Hmmm - Rumblemum

I wanted to thank everyone for their comments and support, it's helped a lot to have so many people understand the grief we feel.

It's hard to know what to do next - looking at the blog I don't know what to do. This really was about telling the story of my boys, and their adventures. I guess the next step is to take Inigo's name off. I may wait a while to do that.

It's started to really sink in for Rumbles that his brother isn't coming home. He greets me at the door every day and looks past me, as if to say 'where is he?' We've got the Feliway running for him, and we're giving him lots of cuddles.

Thank you all again.

About a boy

We hadn't met Inigo before we decided he'd join our family, he came from a breeder in Auckland.

We'd looked at a lot of pictures of Ragdolls online at various breeders, and we knew he was the right boy for us the moment we saw him. He was such a sweet kitten - his eyes were like the sky, and the little patch of white on his nose... we were hooked.

Who can resist this face?

We spoke to his breeder quite a bit on the phone before he came, nervous first time parents and all... when we first asked what he was like her response was that he was a lovely boy, and he 'made best friends with everyone he met'.

He flew out here from Auckland, and when he arrived the flight attendant commented that he saw a lot of cats fly in, but that Inigo was the sweetest boy he'd ever seen - he didn't mew at all.

Young Inigo displays a talent for mixing tunes

Young Inigo was such a sweet and sunny boy. We kept him in one room at first, but he wanted none of that - he wanted to roam around and take over the whole house!

He loved to be loved. For the first few weeks Rumbledad brought his cat tower in every night (and this is a big, heavy tower!) so that he'd be comfy and watch over us. Rumbledad would then bring his tower back out to the lounge for the day, so Inigo could sit in the sun. This went on for almost a month, poor Rumbledad! But he wanted Inigo to be happy, and he never complained once.

Inigo on his beloved cat tower
Rumbledad and I very rarely fight, but we had one big one once when Inigo was about one and a half ( I honestly can't for the life of me recall what the fight was about) I remember how the fight finished -  Inigo RAN in between us and mewed his little heart out - I swear he was saying 'don't fight! don't fight!' as he looked up at us with such worried eyes. It's impossible to stay cross  when you're confronted with such cuteness!.

As he got older, it was really clear that he needed a friend. Whenever we left for work, he'd cry at the door for us... you could hear him in the hall and right up to the elevators! And so we got him a brother.

Less than an hour after they met they're best pals

Rumbles and Inigo were fast friends, within hours little Rumbles had demanded to be let out of the room we'd kept him in so he could see what was outside the door. If we were at all nervous that Inigo wouldn't like his new brother that was very quickly put aside - they were playing in their cat tunnel almost immediately.

Rumbles adored his big brother. Anything Inigo did, Rumbles did too. I laughed so hard the first time I saw Rumbles the Maine Coon do the 'Ragdoll flop'

Me and big brother, we do STUFF!

One of Inigo's very favorite things? Kisses on his head. He purred like a car motor if you leaned in and kissed his head... Rumbles figured this out early, and would wash his head whenever he wanted a cuddle with his brother.

If kisses on his head were number one, number two was defiantly cuddles. Whenever I was sick, or sad... he just knew. He'd curl up beside me, with his head on my pillow, and I'd cuddle him like he was a teddy bear.

I love Thwack cuddles!

Rumbledad and Inigo had a special bond. When Rumbledad was on his computer in the spare room, he'd jump on his lap and the two of them would have 'boy time' The spare room became 'The Boy Room'.

When Rumbledad plays on his computer, I keep warm next to
him and the heater!
Inigo has made me so happy every single day since he came here. Four years of unconditional love and gentleness.

He'll be going to the bridge tomorrow at four. His heart, the biggest one I've ever seen on anyone human or animal, has tried so hard to keep beating for us... but he can't do it any more. He's developed a secondary condition with his liver, and it's time to let him go.

The kitty cardiologist will help him to the bridge, Inigo loves her and she him - we asked if she could please do it. I'll be taking Thwack to go with him and to be cremated with him so he won't be alone.

Thank you all for your kindness and support and for letting us share his life with you.

See? I travel well. Just put tuna in the side pockets....

Dreams in the Mouse House - Inigo

I love my house. I dream of  all the fabulous adventures
Rumbles and I will have!

It's so safe and cozy in here. zzzzzz
I got to see the cardiologist today. I like her, she says I'm handsome and gives me snuggles.

I've made good progress - she thinks I'm a LOT happier, and while I haven't put on any more weight, I haven't lost any.

She's going to keep watching me, and try some new meds. Thank you all again for being so kind to me and the Rumblefolk. It sure does help having friends.

Inigo says... - Rumbles

I've been wondering where Inigo goes in his carrier all the time... he wouldn't tell me before, he was pretty quiet about where he went, but the last couple of day's he's been giving me the scoop...

He's going to see BOOTIFUL girl cats and eat tunas!! Can you believe it?!? And he didn't take ME along!!

I've taken it upon myself to now try and get out every single time the door's been opened. I'll find those bootiful girl cats AND those tunas...
Ladies LOVE a long cat!

(note from Rumblemum: I think Inigo has been telling tales, cause all of a sudden Rumbles wants out in the apartment hall-way. He's never shown a glimmer of interest in it before, but all of a sudden he MUST go out into the world! Oh what fun for me to have to wrangle Inigo AND Rumbles back into the apartment!! But I'm so grateful to have both my boys, it's not such a bad task really :))

*ahem* - Inigo Flufflebum

Well I'm finally feeling up to writing a bit here, and I'm glad 'cause I've missed you all so much.

I'm feeling a bit better. My meds are changing again, and Rumblemum keeps following me around the house with food... but the vet has said I've put on a bit of weight.

I liked the vet today, a baby bird was brought in and I could hear it peeping!!! The vet said I looked just like a kitten with my wide eyes!

I've been a bit low-energy the last couple of days - Rumblemum thought it might be because I haven't been out on the deck, she put me AND Rumbles into the Kritter Kondo (so I wouldn't worry about him).

This is his first time out and he was so thrilled! He did manage to almost bring the whole thing down on us with his exploring *sigh*. He's a good brother, but he's big and goofy at times.

We both checked out the birdies and sniffed the new smells... it was an excellent adventure.

I want to thank you all so much for your sweet words to me and Rumblemum/Rumbledad. They've both been so very sad... I hate for anyone to be sad but I just didn't have the energy to cheer them up like I usually do. I'm so lucky to have friends that will help me out.

I'm off for a snooze now, but I'll make sure to post some photos tomorrow.

Inigo update - Rumblemum

I've been quiet because he's been doing well. I didn't want to get everyones hope up, but he was eating like normal, sleeping on the bed, greeting me at the door, coming for cuddles... it was like before he was sick.

I was getting my hopes up, I knew there was a good chance that I'd be crushed.

Today Inigo went to the cardiologist.

Long story short... he's doing better.

This being said: he is still very, very thin. He needs to eat LOTS more... but I have hope.

Thank you all for your support over the last few days, and for thinking of us all. It's been such a hard time, and having you all here has made such a difference.

You're a wonderful group of friends to us all.

Two bits of news

Inigo was out on the porch in his Kondo (I don't let Rumbles out with him because I don't want him to accidentally hurt Inigo)

Rumbles was at the glass door, mewing at his brother and looking so forlorn... Inigo was so concerned about him! He mewed back, and tried to find a way through the mesh to get to him to comfort him! I could have cried, it was the sweetest thing how they couldn't stand to be apart. I took Inigo out and put him inside by Rumbles, and they were both happy again. I'll have to figure out a way they can both go out at the same time.

The second bit of news... Inigo ATE!!! Like normal, everyday eating!!! I'd made up two dishes, one for Rumbles and one for Inigo, expecting that Inigo wouldn't want his and I'd have to try and convince him to eat... the second the bowls hit the floor there were two pussycats NOMing!!

I'm so happy he's eaten... but another part of me is saying he could be eating because he's on an extremely low dose of his diuretic, which is controlling his plural effusion... which means he could end up with another chest full of fluid... but for now I'm just happy to see my boys happy.

Progress report - Rumblemum

We're overwhelmed at how much love and support you've given us, thank you all so much. I tell Inigo when we cuddle about all his wonderful friends all over the world.

Inigo really didn't want to take his medication this morning. We managed to give him everything but one pill that he just wouldn't take, no matter what - his anti-nausea pill. We didn't want to torture him (he really was upset) so we made the call to not make him take it this morning (he has a second dose this evening)

He's not even looking at his food now, and I couldn't even coax him to smell it. This made me wonder if maybe he's not getting enough of the anti-nausea stuff? Maybe he needs a bigger dose of this to help him feel better?

He was out again today in his kondo, he looks like such a kitten when he's in it. He actually went to the patio door and looked at me, wanting to go out! He wandered around inside, and you could see him noming the birds with his eyes.

My empire!
That's the positive... but...He's stopped grooming himself, and for the first time he has tangles in his beautiful fur. I give him brushies to try to help.

Today is not such a good day - Rumblemum

The vet has said it's time to let Inigo go. His blood pressure is very, very low and he's lost more weight. Our only option now is to reduce the medicine that's keeping the fluid from his chest and this will help his blood pressure, but we run the risk of losing him at home.

They feel that if it was their cat, they would let him go peacefully.

Inigo has been so bright the last few days, he was even playing with Rumbles on Monday when the Kritter Kondo arrived! They were playing hide and seek behind the big box it came in and he was so happy. He's been coming for cuddles and brushies every day and he sits in his sunpuddle. He runs in when he hears the undercover mouse start up.

I don't know if he's just trying to keep us from being upset and he's hiding that he's suffering. He's such a good boy, all he ever wants is to love and be loved.

How can I betray him and tell them to put him to sleep?

Update: We couldn't do it, we brought him home. He came right out of his cage and started checking to make sure the house was as he left it.

We put him outside on the deck in his Kritter Kondo, and he was SO happy. There was a bird on the deck next to ours and his eyes just lit up when he saw it - he looked so much like a kitten.

We keep changing our mind about the best way to handle this, and as so many of you have said it just doesn't feel right to let him go today.

He goes back to the kitty cardiologist next week. If he has to go I think we'd prefer her to do it. She loves him so much, and he adores her.

Thank you all for your words of advice and support.

Brave new worlds... - Rumbles

OMC!! Rumblemum is home sick today (which means cuddles in bed! yeahhh!), so we're happy about that... but let me tell you what's got us both SUPER excited... we god a MASSIVE package from the US today!!

The very kind people from the Kritter Kondo store in the states have sent us our very own KONDO!!!

It's an amazing thing, it allows us (strictly indoors kitties) to go out on the deck (or backyard if you have one) Rumblemum is really excited cause she thinks this might help Inigo get his appetite back, he loves to sit in the door to the balcony and breath in the outdoor smells, now he gets to be out on the deck!

We'll be posting video and photos of our adventures, Rumblemum isn't feeling well enough to put it out for us (and she wants Rumbledad to see us in it and he's not home yet) Stay tuned!!!

(The lovely people at Kritter Kondo also have a blog, you can visit it here

Inigo update, and answering some questions from yesterday - Rumblemum

Hi all,

Inigo has spent the day with the kitty cardiologist today. The news is better than it was a couple of days ago, but still not where we'd like it to be. His weight, while still low, has stayed the same. His kidney function is the same. The fluid in his chest is the same, and his BP is slightly better. The vet was much more optimistic, especially when combined with  stories of how well he's been acting. I haven't heard anything about the infection (I forgot to ask when I rang, and I couldn't go with Rumbledad to pick him up as I had afternoon meetings - Rumbledad isn't home yet)

We've gotten so many sweet emails with suggestions, including some really good natural options. Thank you to you all.

Now! To answer some questions from yesterday:

Mr Puddy suggested a yummy brand of food called 'Fine meat for cats': We hadn't heard of that brand before! Rumblemum is gonna look tomorrow at the shop for 'Fine meat for cats'

Simba asked if some of the weight loss was from the fluid, and if maybe the medicine was making him feel unwell which is why he's not eating: Some of the weight was from the fluid, and there was some concern that the medicine was making him feel unwell, but he's been getting anti-nausea shots and he's got an antacid to take. Thank you so much for your purrs and good thoughts.

Admiral Hestorb thought maybe he'd been mis-weighed: It's a good thought, unfortunately he's been getting weighed weekly at two different vets (we'd actually thought the same thing initially, that they'd just mis-weighed him)

Lita suggested some brilliant food ideas: Thank you so much, we've got an Asian grocer really close to us, I'll get some chicken essence tomorrow!! What a great idea and I'd never have thought of it!

Fin thought maybe it was a cold that was making it hard to smell the food: Actually I thought exactly the same thing, because his nose was so goopy. The vet's said that it's dehydration that's making his nose really dry, and we're taking him in every other day now to get him hydrated.

To you all - I'm so grateful for all the kind words, and I tell Inigo every night how much love comes from his online friends. Thank you so much for your support and suggestions.

Inigo update - Rumblemum

We took Inigo to the kitty cardiologist yesterday, he has been seeing her at least once a week since this whole thing started. I was very worried that he wasn't eating, and his nose is very black and crusty so I rang over to have a quick chat.

The news was not good. Inigo has (in a very short time) lost over a kilo (over 2lbs) which is a lot. He's very thin. The vet was worried about that and the fact that he's not really eating.

She's also said that his blood pressure is very, very low and his kidney function has declined.

I told her how loving and sweet he'd been over the long weekend, and how he was always running for cuddles and kisses - he was very much himself.

The vet felt that this was a very positive thing, and she commented over and over about what a sweet and special boy Inigo is. She said that his quality of life doesn't seem to be suffering, he was quite responsive to her as well... but we're really starting to move into dangerous territory.

She rang back a little while later, and she thinks it's possible that he has an infection that's causing the low BP and kidney issues - she's running some tests to see if that's maybe what the problem is.

I have to be honest - if it wasn't for the weight, I swear it's like the old Inigo is back. He's just so loving and he tried to make a break for it when I got home - he hasn't done that in so long! It's hard to believe he's sick when he's so fine.

We're trying everything we can to get him to eat. Rumbledad picked up some scallops for him, and we're trying to tempt him.

Thank you all for asking after him. I think I can't believe that he's anything less than well because of all the improvement. He's back at the cardiologist tomorrow, and we should know the results of his tests.

A public service announcement - Rumblemum

Hi friends,

We've switched computers here, the computer we were on before had all our blog friends saved to a browser. Unfortunately in the switch we lost the blogs that we'd only added to the browser (and not our main list that's server based).

So, if you haven't heard from us in a while, please let us know so we can add you to the tool we're using now.

That boy ain't right - Inigo

My kind pal Ginger Jasper sent us a wonderful care package from far away!! I am so thrilled by the contents!!

There were nommy treats, the kind we don't get out here... a new blankie that is the same color as my new bed, a cricket on a stick toy (Rumbles goes mental for it *sigh*) and, the most favorite by Rumbles... a tent.

Of course Rumbles can't do anything the normal way. He roars into the tent, knocks it on it's side, and then tries to chase things while he's caught in the walls.

I was walking along, minding my own business when Rumbles tries to charge at me! That is, he tries with his FRONT half. His back half was standing on the tent, so he ended up getting tangled even MORE up and having to do a somersault! Rumblemum was killing herself laughing, and she said my face was like I was mentally shaking my head and saying 'the boy ain't right' (that is what I was thinking, she knows me well!)

So here are some photos of Rumbles in his new tent. You can see it's on it's side (the walls are mesh and the bottom is black - you can see it behind him)

I know you don't see me!
What'da ya mean I'm doin' it wrong?
The mesh look is in this year!
WAHAHAHA! Die little cricket!!
Thank you SO much GJ. I really love my new blankie.

A question for my friends - Rumblepurr

I ask you... what makes a normal, handsome man cat go from this:

I love my mummy!

To THIS:
I VANT to suck your BLOOD!!
Must be Halloween in the air!!

Inigo is doing well, but he's very thin. Rumblemum is trying to fatten him up (and me in the process! heh heh heh) He has much more energy these days, and that makes us all so happy.

Beware of Bengals! They attack from the sky! - Rumblepurr

One of the wonderful kitty friends I made in the NZ Next Top Cat Model contest was a handsome Bengal named Darwin!

Darwin has his own blog, and he has his own PLANE!! So he could visit some of the far-away kitties (and most importantly he can take me to visit the BOOTIFUL ladycats)

You can visit Darwin here, he's new to blogging so doesn't know many people yet :)

My bed...my best friend
Perfectly contoured to my body
ZZZZzzzzzZZzzZzzzZzz
My bed plugs into the wall and it makes it WARM!! I can't WAIT! Rumblemum says I have to wait till she gets an adapter... I don't know what that is but she better get it NOW.

Many thanks to the BOOTIFUL Baby at Nip and Bones for sending my wonderful bed!!

Let sleeping floof lie - Inigo

I tell ya, there is no place like home!

I get praise even when I sleep!

Please bring my noms over. I'll have breakfast in bed
It was back to the vet for a check-up for me today. The nurses and my vet must really like me, I got the BEST cage with a sheepy bed! (I can't have one of those at home, Rumbles eats the sheepy bits *sigh*)

My blood pressure is very low again, but the nice vet says that's just because we're still adjusting my meds. They've changed them to fix my blood pressure.

All the vets and nurses say that I'm the first Ragdoll they've seen that actually has the Ragdoll trait of going limp in their arms! (I do it to charm them, and woo over any bootiful ladycats that might be looking)

It's MANLY cuddle time - Inigo and Rumbles

Rumbledad took some photos of us with our manly cuddle time.

Rumblemum loves the first photo, even though it's not the best shot... the look on Rumbles face is all innocence, and you can sort of see Inigo's crimped hair on his head!

Real men snuggle

Yeahhhhhh
