Hunting high and low - Rumbles

It's been DAYS since we've seen our Rumblemum! We thought she might just be hiding, so we launched a full scale search.

Hammy (who is just silly) thought she might just be inside the flashy box, so when Rumbledad brought it out, Hammy gave it a close up look.

Rumblemum? Are you there?

I thought she might be hiding in a new bag that Rumbledad brought home. It had really enticing crinkly paper, so I could see where she'd want to hang out inside.

RUMBLEMUM! Come out NOW!
Neither of these seemed to work. The hunt continues.

Once I figure this out - Rumbles

My mean, mean Rumblemum is off cavorting with foreign cats, so I find I must make do on my own *sniffle*

Rumbledad has sent her this video so she can see her REAL cats, and how we hardly miss her at ALL *sob*.

I've almost worked out how to open my toy chest to get at my Silvervine Fishies! That Ham came over to help, but he's not as clever as I am.

Before you know it I'll have figured out how to open my own cans of food!

Here is a picture of the far-away pussycat that she is cuddling. I notice a slight resemblance to ... WAFFLES!? *dun dun dunnnnn*

All your Rumblemums are belong to ME!

Is this a coincidence? Could it be that this is a relative of Waffles, and my Rumblemum is being kidnapped by a Waffles cartel?

Maybe me and Hammy need to get a jet plane and sort this out.

A note for my Twitter pals - there's a big Twitter party on Tuesday Nov. 13 from noon to midnight EST - hashtag #BlogPawty. Here's an invitation: http://twtvite.com/BlogPawtySurprise. I will be spinning my awesome tunes starting at 1pm EST, so be sure and stop by!

Once upon a time... - Rumblepurr

Once upon a time, there was a Rumbledad.

This Rumbledad had never had a pussycat of his own. He was persuaded by the wise and wonderful Rumblemum that everything is better with a pussycat (and twice as good with two!) and so they decided to start the Rumblefamily.

Now having never had a pussycat before, Rumbledad had many goofy and irrational rules. One of these crazy rules was that there would be 'NO CATS ON THE COUNTERTOPS!!' Rumblemum heard this and laughed quietly to herself.

Time passed, and Rumbledad saw how cute pussycats were on the countertops. He decided to amend the rule to be 'Cats can ONLY be on the UPPER countertops, where there is no food preperation'. Rumblemum chuckled, but said nothing.

Then one day Rumblemum put a bag on the lower countertop. Imagine her surprise when Rumbledad SCOLDED her for putting a bag on the pussycat's spot! (which was actually the main food preparation area...)

The moral of this story? Cats will ALWAYS win (and the lesson is that nobody should listen to Rumbledad)

Yeahhhh... MY spot....

Evil Rumblemum

Like it ISN'T enough she neglects our blog, she is now apparently going to 'some island to look at fishies'.

NEWSFLASH Rumblemum, we LOVE fishies. And we travel very light.

So we won't be around for the next couple of weeks while Rumblemum is on the island, but we'll see you all soon.

See? Hamlet fits in here, and I can fly first class!

No travelling for the Rumble-parents

Inigo update, and answering some questions from yesterday - Rumblemum

Hi all,

Inigo has spent the day with the kitty cardiologist today. The news is better than it was a couple of days ago, but still not where we'd like it to be. His weight, while still low, has stayed the same. His kidney function is the same. The fluid in his chest is the same, and his BP is slightly better. The vet was much more optimistic, especially when combined with  stories of how well he's been acting. I haven't heard anything about the infection (I forgot to ask when I rang, and I couldn't go with Rumbledad to pick him up as I had afternoon meetings - Rumbledad isn't home yet)

We've gotten so many sweet emails with suggestions, including some really good natural options. Thank you to you all.

Now! To answer some questions from yesterday:

Mr Puddy suggested a yummy brand of food called 'Fine meat for cats': We hadn't heard of that brand before! Rumblemum is gonna look tomorrow at the shop for 'Fine meat for cats'

Simba asked if some of the weight loss was from the fluid, and if maybe the medicine was making him feel unwell which is why he's not eating: Some of the weight was from the fluid, and there was some concern that the medicine was making him feel unwell, but he's been getting anti-nausea shots and he's got an antacid to take. Thank you so much for your purrs and good thoughts.

Admiral Hestorb thought maybe he'd been mis-weighed: It's a good thought, unfortunately he's been getting weighed weekly at two different vets (we'd actually thought the same thing initially, that they'd just mis-weighed him)

Lita suggested some brilliant food ideas: Thank you so much, we've got an Asian grocer really close to us, I'll get some chicken essence tomorrow!! What a great idea and I'd never have thought of it!

Fin thought maybe it was a cold that was making it hard to smell the food: Actually I thought exactly the same thing, because his nose was so goopy. The vet's said that it's dehydration that's making his nose really dry, and we're taking him in every other day now to get him hydrated.

To you all - I'm so grateful for all the kind words, and I tell Inigo every night how much love comes from his online friends. Thank you so much for your support and suggestions.

A public service announcement - Rumblemum

Hi friends,

We've switched computers here, the computer we were on before had all our blog friends saved to a browser. Unfortunately in the switch we lost the blogs that we'd only added to the browser (and not our main list that's server based).

So, if you haven't heard from us in a while, please let us know so we can add you to the tool we're using now.

He's HOME!!

We got in to the vet, and he was sitting up properly. When we went over, he gave a very demanding MEW! (he hasn't done that in SO long!!) He kept trying to get out of his cage (which is also good progress!)

We put him on the floor, and he walked right into his cage and went MEW! like he was saying 'take me home!'

He's had some noms (thank God) and drank some water from his fountain... I don't want to feel too happy, but...

And excellent timing - my package from Nip and Bones arrived!! It had a special heated bed in it for Inigo (I'd ordered it before he got sick) and some toys for Rumbles. It had a Yeowwww nip toy that Rumbles is absolutely MAD about!!! I've never seen him react so strongly to nip! It's very strongly scented, it arrived at my work and another cat lady wandered by and commented that she could smell it - so it must be strong! I had to put it in a tupperware container in a drawer to hide it - we don't want to over stimulate Inigo.

And also - Perry the Birman's mummy had sent us some Greenies Pill Pockets!!! How perfect is that!! She sent Rumbles some nommy Party Mix so he wouldn't feel left out. He is having an excellent day overall *hee hee* and he's being very sweet to his big bro - not a single hiss out of him!

My friends... I feel very blessed today, not just for having my boy home, but also for all the kind support from you all.

Thank you all

Much more optimistic today. Inigo doesn't seem himself, but I'm hoping that's just the combination of being away from home, medication, and all the strange sounds.

They did pull out some more fluid, but it wasn't as much. His blood pressure is ok, but his kidneys are not doing so well because of the diuretic. They've started him on an ace inhibitor, that should help.

We hope with all that we have that being home will see him brighter and more energetic, and that he'll start eating more.

Rumbles is so out of sorts. He doesn't let us out of his sight when we get home, and he cuddles us both lots. He snuggled up to me in the same way Inigo does, I think he knew I needed that.

I've got photos of him that I'll post soon - been having issues with the laptop so a lot of my updates have been from my phone or ipad (hence some of the odd spellings or grammar - auto-correct is a funny thing) I'll also be able to start visiting more once the laptop is sorted.

We're so blessed to know so many kind friends here in the blogosphere and twitterverse and facebook. Your support has meant more than you'll ever know.

Help? - Rumblemum

Hi all,

Rumbles has been freaked out since Inigo got back... we assumed it was because he smelled like vet. We tried the towel trick and got some Feilaway and figured it would fix itself in a couple of days.

Well, we're on day three and now Rumbles is hissing at Inigo. He still seems more afraid than anything, but this is so out of character for Rumbles. He's usually SO easygoing, and he loves his big brother.

Rumbles slept next to me almost all night (and this is also a bit out of character, he usually sleeps on me or on the other side of me) and Rumbledad slept on the sofa so he could keep an eye on Inigo (who slept on his fave chair)

Has anyone got any experience with this or any advice?

I'm sorry to be hogging the blog ;) and I'm sorry I haven't been visiting... things will hopefully settle down soon.

Tomorrow will be Inigo, I promise! - Rumblemum

I just wanted to show the beautiful pendant of Rumbles that his friend Whskr made for me!

Isn't that amazing? Now I can have Rumbles at work with me!

This is another one of her pendants, I just love the little eyes on the flowers!

Her shop is here, she does super cute stuff! (it looks like there is a line at the bottom - that's just my shoddy photo taking skills, it's the reflection of the glaze)

Better be blogging about ME tomorrow
Rumblemum, or you sleep with one eye open

Happy birthday, my special little man - Rumblemum

Every single day you bring us so much joy.

You're four years old, but you're still our baby kitten

We'd be so lost without you. You keep your naughty brother in line, you make your daddy so proud and you take such good care of your mummy.

Happy birthday my little Ragdoll prince.

Update on the PeroDaCat re-home - Rumblemum

Just wanted to let you all know what's going on with the fund-raising/home finding effort for PeroDaCat Maine Coon rehoming (full story is here).

Two of the cats have found forever homes, there is still one (the beautiful black kitty) that is looking for a home. The donation money will be going towards re-homing - so if you're in another state (the kitty is currently in AZ) and interested in adopting the last little kitty, shipping costs will be covered for the transport by the fund-raising. I would assume that the preference would be to keep Gwim in North America, but I don't know that any good home would be refused.

Gwim aka 'The Panther'
Age 2, is a silly monkey with brains

I'm just posting the message in hopes that this last little kitty can find a forever home. For more information, or if you/someone you know would like to adopt this beautiful kitty, please contact Hollie Ferguson

Many thanks to the people that have worked so hard putting together the donations (and of course to the people that are donating) and that are communicating with PeroDaCat about the re-homing arrangements - Mario's Mewsings, Hollie Ferguson, Forever Ginger blog - I hope this little one finds a forever home really soon.
