It's HAMMY here! I have a dilema that I'm hoping you can help with. I'm BORED of my toys!
I used to love Da Bird, but lately I'm meh about it. Rumblemum has tried all the different attachements but no dice.
Same with the laser. Just not interested. But I want to PLAY and I mew mew mew so sadly!
What about a box with a flappy lid? They are great fun. You can hide and then leap out and make everyone jump. You can have lots of adventures, pretending it's a space rocket, or a car or even a castle. Then, when you are all played out, you can curl up and have a cosy snooze in it :)xx
Let's see... a pipe cleaner, a guitar string, a Neko Fly... I got something a few years ago that almost always banished toy boredom called a Cat Quest... google it, I don't know if they make them anymore. Oh, also twist ties flung across the room. And nothing beats a box with crinkly paper. Toss a mousie in there and it makes it even more fun!
We agree with Sparkle about pipe cleaners. We find them to be extremely versatile and entertaining! There are also great laser pointers around. Chasing the red dot is FUN!
Hammy, when your humans work out the secret, please have them let Mom know. Audrey pesters my humans all the time but they are not sure of any good games to play with her that will really entertain her. Red dot only works for a few minutes.
Maybe the pipe cleaners as several commenters suggest?
Well, I can advice you my favourite toy - plumeaux, number 1 in France ! It's really cheap, simple and it gives Bizduk and me lots of joy ! Look below: http://www.wanimo.com/fr/chats/canne-a-peche-plumeau-pour-chat-sc1031/plumeau-sf875/
Email Ă„iti with your snail mail address. We can try to send you something on two conditions a) Rumbles drops all ideas about flirting with Roosa as that Evil Claw really is not much fun b) you share ALL your toys with Rumbles. karincparker (at) gmail (dot) com
It's obvious...you need us girl kitties to teleport over for a party!!!! I'll bring some cheese and Jonesie has some fresh nip. We'll play THoE until we pass out!
pee ess....we go nuts for little foam soccer balls. We bat them around and then we carry them around. Of course I adore a good freshly worn all day sock. That's my favorite toy.
you can get boinks and springs and silvervine and kragonfly (neko) from baby patches. Or have Rumblemom throw a ball in the bathtub. make her repeat ad nauseum.
We have a long tunnel that Lucy loves - she spends hours running through it and then sits quietly until a foot or paw appear and then she pounces - we are sorry to say she is sometimes a little too reckless and we retire hurt! Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Have you tried peacock feathers. They are great fun. M plays with me in my tunnel and I pounce and chase the peacock feather from one end to the other and all around the outside. To be honest, I'm getting bored with all of my toys now too except the feather, but M says that won't last long either. She's going to try putting some away for a month and then bring out a couple of new ones.
My boys love those multi-coloured soft balls that have something crinkly in them. Sadly I had to stop buying them because our dog Rio loved to eat them...was a sad day here for the cats :-(
Parker found somethingthing in Baby Patches'. Dress Rumblies as a turkey and you can laugh your tail off: http://www.nipandbones.com/turkey-dog-costume.html
Around our house the cats ignore bought toys in favor of wine corks. Dragging a piece of ribbon or string across the floor always works. Tires out the beans, though.
rub your old toys with smells that you like. Cat Nip, cheese, I would not recommend fish... although if your parents had some tuna for lunch, maybe they can give you the empty can, let you go to town with it?
You need us there! :) Sometimes I do the same thing and my mommy hates to hear kitties cry so she stops what she's doing and comes play with me. I like to have the jingle balls thrown across the floor and then watch her go fetch them and throw them the other way while I chase them. It just has to be a game that she plays with me or else I cry which she can't stand. Hope you find what game you like Hammy!
I was going to say exactly what Mario said! That always works for me. AND I love my big paper bag on the floor and if I have clawed a hole in it, mom sticks the end of a wand thru to entice me and I attack the bag over and over!
Dear Hammy, what about a ping pong ball or a golf ball? When Cassie was younger, she loved to play with pipe cleaners. We think corks from wine bottles would be fun, too. Maybe set the Bird aside for awhile while you try something else. Big hugs to Hammy and Rumbles and a wish for a lovely weekend!
Let your human hide the toy´syour bored of and then send the human out to buy some new :) Then after a couple of weeks you LOVE the toy´s that are hidden :)
Same story over here -- it's worse than the fashion industry. I bought a bag of valerian at the health-food store and stash some toys in with it. When at wit's end, said steeped toys distract the boys for a moment or two.
MOL, well, of course I'd recommend a set of toys from our FUNdraiser... five to choose from! But if not that, then feathers! Leo has a singing bird feather toy that's just awesome!
One favorite toy at our home has been a mouse with a computer chip. It squeaks when a kitty smacks it around. Jenna also loves the neon colored mice that are wrapped in silken cord. Many years ago my Siamese loved a stuffed toy snake. He'd bite and bunny kick it ferociously.
I had to get advice from the lady because I don't play with toys. I go for the real thing.
The lady says that the cardboard tube from the toilet paper roll is fun, especially if there is that little bit of tp still on it.
There is also a round plastic thing that sort of looks like a tire and it has a ball in it that you can sort of reach and make it go around and around.
Mommy puts our toys away form months at a time. As a matter of fact, we has not seen our turbo track since last May. She also moves our cat trees around, or even breaks them down and puts them away too. That really helps. Kisses Nellie
A paper bag with holes cut in it. Or, get your Human to rub some good stuff into a current toy--like Silvervine or even some spices like nutmeg. Sometimes when a toy has a new and alluring smell it can be fun all over again.
I like The Cat Charmer. It's a wand toy with a long, thin piece of kind-of stretchy fleect. http://www.amazon.com/Cat-Dancer-301-Charmer-Interactive/dp/B0002DHV16 It requires your human be attached to the other end, but it's a lot of fun! I also like really long pieces of curling ribbon (the thin ribbon you wrap gifts in and you take the edge of a scissors and run it down the ribbon to make it curl). That also requires a human on the other end. I'm not allowed to have these toys without my mom supervising.
All toys are fun when they disappear under a pile of "crinkle paper" - about 6-8 sheets of big gift tissue paper layed out on the floor.
Spongy balls are fun to bat about too. You could also try a wine cork or an empty thread spool.
Have you tried putting your favorite toy inside a paper lunch bag - twist the top shut and tear a little hole in the bottom so you have to try to get your toy out? That can be fun.
I go in spurts and waves with my toys. You probably know from my recent post that my current obsession is Da Bird. Some of my other go-to toys are a turbo track...which I can play by myself or with the girl...and I also love very small catnippy toys to bat around. I have some Yeowww Stinkies that are really fun. Also a Cat Catcher...but it's kind of like Da Bird. It's a wand toy with an itty bitty straw mouse on the end. When I want to play I drag it around the house, across the noisy hardwood floor, over to Gloman. I drop it and stare at him with my "come play" look.
We like the low-tech stuff: string, a paper bag, and boxes. Mom has spent so much money on cat toys, and most of 'em are stupid. We DO like the Nip Nanner. Try putting the old toys away, and rotating new ones in. It does help when Mom or Dad plays WITH us.

Another cat. Heh heh heh. Just kidding.
Our human changes out our toys now and again, but we're pretty bored with them all anyway, with the exception of a couple of favourites.
Hehehe I like your idea Fuzzy Tales !

Yes, Parker has mom wrapped around his BIG paw!
Store them away in a little nip for a couple of days then slowly bring them out agsin!
We have a long tunnel that Lucy loves - she spends hours running through it and then sits quietly until a foot or paw appear and then she pounces - we are sorry to say she is sometimes a little too reckless and we retire hurt!

We know nothing of kitty toys, but we always find another furry is our best toy:)
Woos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning

I get bored with my toys too! Mom says she is going to rotate them... whatever that means.
Bored with your toys?
We'd recommend the Nip Banana, but Olivia chewed it so hard all the stuff poured out of it and we're bored with it now too.
We'd recommend red drinking straws but someone named Pia chewed up all the ends and Mom says they aren't good for anything but the trashcan.
We'd recommend a furry mouse but why chase a mouse when we can chase each other?
Sorry we're not helpful! Purrs...
My kitties LOVE their Kong Kickeroos because they like to rabbit kick 'em. And nothing beats a ping pong ball in the bathtub!
Be sure to come by my blog to read about the Cats in Boxes photo contest, and enter to win free cat food and treats! YUM!
The Cat Dancer!! That always gets a kitty movin' and groovin'!

Maybe your toys just need a good soaking in some nip? I don't know as personally my favorite toy to play with is Sassy's mind! MOL

Lots of good ideas from the blogosphere!

PEACOCK FEATHERS!!! From Baby Patches. They're the best and then some!! I don't play with anything else except my foam rockets.

Good luck finding something new!
~Katie
What about the Cat Dancer? Or the Neko Flies Kragonfly? Those are big time favorites here. Good luck!
When you find something, let us know. We've reached that same point with our toys.
I recommend a bit of boxing my pal. Got anyfing you can box? What's that you say? Rumbles?...THWOCK...yes, like that
All cats love the cat dancer (http://www.catdancer.com/products.htm) its great fun alone or with a partner
