Once upon a time... - Rumblepurr

Once upon a time, there was a Rumbledad.

This Rumbledad had never had a pussycat of his own. He was persuaded by the wise and wonderful Rumblemum that everything is better with a pussycat (and twice as good with two!) and so they decided to start the Rumblefamily.

Now having never had a pussycat before, Rumbledad had many goofy and irrational rules. One of these crazy rules was that there would be 'NO CATS ON THE COUNTERTOPS!!' Rumblemum heard this and laughed quietly to herself.

Time passed, and Rumbledad saw how cute pussycats were on the countertops. He decided to amend the rule to be 'Cats can ONLY be on the UPPER countertops, where there is no food preperation'. Rumblemum chuckled, but said nothing.

Then one day Rumblemum put a bag on the lower countertop. Imagine her surprise when Rumbledad SCOLDED her for putting a bag on the pussycat's spot! (which was actually the main food preparation area...)

The moral of this story? Cats will ALWAYS win (and the lesson is that nobody should listen to Rumbledad)

Yeahhhh... MY spot....

Yeah, apparently when the first kitty came to live here, dad said no kitty on the sofa, upstairs on the bed blah blah blah :)xx

Those rules all go to the garbage bin eventually. We have supreme rule over the houses in which we allow our humans to live!

Rules for cats are doomed to be overruled.

Having had many pets in the family, we don't have rules any more for them. No one gets upset that way.

We cats make the rules. It's humans who are expected to follow.

Now that is pretty funny that the Rumbledad scolded Rumblemom for putting a bag on the cats' counter area! We assume it was a bag of food?

Hahaha, Rumbledad totally got sucked in by the cuteness of pussycats!

Of course, kittehs always win! And Rumbledad is obviously very smart to accept this reality.

yes "Cats will ALWAYS win"

When will humans EVER learn this?

My Mom has the same countertop rule tsk, tsk

That just makes us all purr. Seems Rumblemum always knew that eventually you would be able to go anywhere you like anytime you like.

The way it should be.

Rumbles, that's a cute story about how Rumbledad has finally learned your rules! Our daddy hadn't ever had any animals before he met mommy so he was silly enough to think there were rules too. Now he knows better!

We think Rumblemum was very wise to let the kitties work their magic. After all, why expend effort when somebody else will do the job?
Well played, Rumblemum!

Cuteness will always win! Sadly, we're not allowed on the countertops, but that's not because our Lady isn't reasonable - it's because cats aren't allowed in our apartment and we'd be seen out the window. She has all sorts of ways to block us out of certain areas. ::sigh::

ha ha - love it! I has much the same story - D used to dislike CATS. Can you imagine. He was a d.o.g. person. Well, I'm their 4th cat in 50 years and they've only had one d.o.g.! Guess we know who rules.

Link Bartholomew said...

Oh yes, Marmie said no cat butts on the placemats. Now she has just given up. She no longer eats at the kitchen table though.

Good job schooling your dad in the proper ways of cats. The counters and tabletops are some of our favorite places!

Your Rumbledad and my dad sound similar. We're not supposed to be on the counters, but Sammi often eats her dinner up there. We were not allowed in the bedroom and absolutely forbidden from being on the bed (he has cat allergies) bedroom, but now we sleep at the foot of the bed. Dads are softies, we just can't let them know that we know.

It's just a man thing - think they can tell the world and kitty cats what to do. Gosh they're funny. But notice how Rumblemum knew the truth all along? :) It's just like that saying says, you know, the one about men and dogs and women and cats...

P.S.: Thank you so much for your lovely post for Sweet Pea! We so appreciate your kindness and support.

Poor Rumbledad - we are glad to hear that you have learned that there are no rulz for cats.

Us British shorthairs don't like climbing and I never get up on benches or tables. However all couches, beds and boxes are mine.
